东山建筑组图来源于书籍《珍藏东山》（2018）的部分图片，作者雷鸣夏先生生于东山长与东山，几十年来与这个地方有着说不尽的故事。2017年始，得雷先生邀请，与吴少鹏、何志达一同对于东山洋楼开始了整体性的调研以及拍摄。

Briefing of Dongshan

Broadly speaking, Dongshan is referred to the whole District of Dongshan ( now part of Yuexiu District), also known as the Eastern District of Guangzhou Municipality before.
The kernel area of Dongshan is small, but Dongshan played a very important role in mordern history of China. Dongshan was regarded as a pioneer in the modernization process of Guangzhou City.

Over the past hundred years many talents and heros settled down in Dongshan and made Dongshan a stage for promoting revolution, for reforming politics, for constructing novel residential quarters , opening hospitals and schools, and developing commers and industries.
The reclamation project of Dongshan was started by the foreign missionaries in the early 20th century, and continued by the overseas Chinese, who returned from Canada, USA and Australia, etc.

In 1930s, Dongshan was well developed, and the municipal government conferred on Dongshan a title of sample residental zone.

In 1950s, the completion of East Lake brought Dongshan a more beautiful look. Since the reform and opening period new buildings, hotels and roads appeared, and at present living in Dongshan has become more comfortable.
